The River Torrens is just a small creek in summer that a child could step over (unless we are pumping water from the River Murray to our reservoirs in the Chain of Ponds area in the Adelaide Hills). The recent Sampson Flat fire burned on both sides of the road in the Chain of Ponds area. These photographs were taken from that road. They show the fragility of the area in summer and you could be excused for thinking that the photographs were taken after a winter snow (although it doesn't snow here) except most of the trees are evergreen (pine plantations - not native) and there are no leaves.
